The Guide to Mental Health and Community Support Services lists hundreds of local health and human service related resources in Frederick, Washington, and Carroll Counties. This is one of most comprehensive referral tool lists licensed mental health professionals, behavioral health facilities, group practices, extensive community support and emergency services, and a general services section in Spanish.

Featured community service categories in the Guide to Mental Health and Community Support Services are as follows: 24-Hour hotlines, mental health services, substance abuse services, consumer information and advocacy, developmental disabilities, employment and vocational rehabilitation, family and children’s services, health care services, AIDS services, in-home/respite care, housing and emergency services, law enforcement and legal assistance, senior services, and support groups. One complementary copy per person can be picked up at the Mental Health Association of Frederick County office at 263 West Patrick Street in Frederick from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. For larger quanties or to arrage that a guide be mailed please contact Virginia Horner at 301-663-0011 ext. 150. There will be a $5.00 shipping and handling fee per guide.

Mental health professionals who are licensed at the highest level, including licensed social workers, counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists may become professional members of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County. In doing so, these professionals receive the following benefits:

  • Complementary listing in The Guide to Mental Health and Community Support Services and a free copy - 2, 000 copies of the Guide distributed annually.
  • Referrals given by 2-1-1/Frederick County Hotline to callers; over 19, 000 calls in 2009.
  • Professional listing posted to the on-line mental health referral center at ww.fcmha.org.
  • Preferential registration and special rates at all Mental Health Association of Frederick County workshops and classes.
  • Receive Mental Health Association’s newsletter Mental Health Matters, and an opportunity to be a featured writer for our "Clinician’s Corner" section.
