How to Receive Services: Access and Intake
Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use

Contacts with Community Mental Health Services of Livingston County often start with a call to our Intake Services at (517) 546-4126. Intake Services will ask you for: The concern that you would like to address Your name, address and date of birth Your Insurance coverage and income Your prior services, if any

Access Staff will also ask you a number of questions regarding your health. Access staff are clinicians who are able to help with your mental health needs, needs related to developmental disabilities, and substance use needs. Intake clinicians will help you, by providing a substance abuse screening if needed. Following a screening, an intake clinician will assist you in receiving assistance either at Livingston County Community Mental Health or in the community.

Based on the information an individual provides to the clinician, Intake Services may direct you to another community agency that might better meet your needs. Services at Community Mental Health are for people who need an array of specialized mental health services that are not available through traditional mental health clinics. Often, people with a single need or less intensive needs can use other community resources.
